Never got to pick Strawberrys

I mean it. Summer has seen me have to take a step back from crafting because of a heavy calender of adventures while larping. Its meant that mostly my creative plushie making ways have suffered and to top it all off. I never got to go and pick strawberrys till my fingers were stained red and I had a tummy angry enough to destroy the world, for strawberry consumption. Apparently this year was good for them too. So double disapointment there.

On the right you'll see a picture however of the current state of my craft desk, as you can see many many mini projects have come together to see a small army of Halloween themed plushies make a bid to take over. They will be thwarted in the next two weeks as I move on to fill up both an online shop and the Most Marvellous Market. Both of which that have been a little neglected recently -shame face-
Did I mention I had also started making some character themed plushies. More on that later when I have something to show for myself but being a bit of a fan of certain pokemon and ponys. There will certainly be more to show.

Bank Holidays

Its been two weeks and two bank holidays. Congratulations to the easter bunny for a fantastically sunny easter weekend (oh and my good friend Ian for a chocolate egg, that has been demolished totally). But also Congratulations to the royal couple who've given us the extra bank holiday friday this month for their big day. I'll even give them credit for the great sunshine we've had all weekend too.

Its been glorious and Ive had a busy time sewing and attending a couple of lovely craft fairs, the first this year infact.
Saturday was the Bicycle Basket Bazar. Which I confess I have not been to this year, due to weekends clashing with other events. It was good to be back and with the new crotchety old lady bike by my side. I happened to find a home for my little unicorn plushie at this one, which I am so proud about, definatly need to make some more of those.
Then of course there was today. The Most Marvellous Markets Yard sale. Now despite a little bit of a breeze that occasionally sent all of my cards flying across the front of the shop, it was bright and sunny, the people were lovely and I found some homes for a couple of critters. I couldn't have asked for more, infact I think the best thing all day was the quiche! from the kitchen at the Marvellous Market, it was home made and had bacon in it. Om nom nom nom.
I really have got my itch back for craft fairs again and now cant wait for the next flurry of fairs at the end of the month.

Dont Eat Plastic

The weather was wishy washy and grey outside. Despite the fact its been brilliantly sunny right up untill today. Inside my craft nest though it was definately alot brighter. See I made today a day for making jewellry.
Its something pretty recent for me to have begun making, ive only been even trying to make some for like the last month. But with things being encouraging in the shop, its been time today to have a go and make some extra new bits and bobs.
Like the ice creams in the photo. Which arrived in the post. My Mr didnt much approve of them, but then they arent his cup of tea really. I think they are fantastic, they are slightly feely and the ice cream has a squashy feel to it. Its like the best worst kind of ice cream ever, in that it stays its pretty shape all the time but you cant ever eat it. Now im tempted to lick it and see what it tastes like.... hmmm. No. It just tastes a bit like plastic.

Fur Thinking

Walking into my craft room this evening I was met by an unusual beastie, it was subtle, hiding admist the felt pile, slightly white and stairing right at me ready to pounce. Nope Im not talking about a spider or a giant moth thats crept into my craft lair. Im infact talking about a small caterpillar of fur I made awhile ago while prefecting how to make the hair for the unicorn plushies.
Its odd looking at it now. Thinking about the fact I made that a month ago and it was the first one of several. (I tend to keep the first one of everything i make anyways, but this one was also a bit too small otherwise it would have gone onto my Unicorn). It was the first, by far not the best. Its just cool to see something you've made a little while ago and how in recent weeks you've improoved on making the same thing.

259 hours to go

I think someone worked it out as 259 hours till the first big event of the year for us. So of course with the clock ticking it was time to put phase two of horn creation into effect.
Even my Mr jumped in and got to it with the Dragon horn production line. He even came up with a cunning way of spraying the first layer of paint onto them.
Stabbing some of our clock work pencils into their bases, so we can hold them while spraying and not get glittery hands....well almost, he still got glittery hands. And a bit on the path outside also became glittery too. I wasnt. I just had to stand there holding the pencils and supervising while he did all the glittery spray work for me. (I need to involve my Mr in more crafts *sage nod*).

The posetive that has come from making this batch of horns though is the discovery of Plasti-dip or whatever the black stuff we've painted them with is.
It is about 100x better than the latex we used to use and means we can just paint onto rather than paint and then have to put another layer of latex ontop to keep the water out. Im also not allergic to the black stuff either, so I'll be using it again I should think.

Kawaii Rabbits

The fabric obsession for Trinkety continues this morning as I happened upon this amazingly cute Japanese fabric. Im very tempted to buy up quite a bit of it (yes I say this all the time) and then make myself a Kimono out of it (not sure when I would wear this, but I want to make one anyways).

Its quite heavy but still really soft. It also is really summery coloured and has pink and red hares or little bunnys on it.
I couldnt help but Squeeee when I found it. Infact I still am now. I may just have to nip back into my craft lair and stroke it. You know just to test the quality of the fabric. Rather than in a weird way just touch new fabric...hmmm.

Super Bike Woooosh RWR

For the past two days I have been a fairly grumpy unapproachable anti-social so and so. Who has mostly raged at random people or been close to tears about silly things like running out of squash to drink or accidentally standing on the tasteyest looking tomato in the dish even when there were another 12 equally as tasty tomato's to be had.
What is the result of these mood swings? I mean other than a Mr who is walking around on egg shells mostly hiding away and avoiding my craft lair. Well actually I feel I have discovered what the result of this is today. Im going to buy a bike. I haven’t had a bike since that unfortunate incident that lead to my shiny silver BMX being stolen by a girl I thought I liked and that was Aaaaaages ago. Im not really into riding around on bikes. I think retro bikes look purdy though. And since this month I shall be starting to do the Bicycle Basket Bazar again here in Northampton. I get the feeling that rather than paying double the pitch fee per craft fair. I will invest in my own purdy retroish foldy bike thingy. (its blue!).
Is there a mood you can get it where you buy bikes? Am I just experiencing it? Should I possibly think about this before I invest in yet another cunning idea. Naaaaw.
